About

The mission of the East End Lagoon Advisory Committee (EELAC) is to support the Galveston Park Board of Trustees (GPBT) in the development of the East End Lagoon reserve as a nature tourism based amenity, ensuring the preservation of the wetlands and the creation of recreational and nature appreciation opportunities in an ecologically responsible manner.

The EELAC takes direction from the Board and the annual work plan authorized by the Board and provides recommendations and direction on issues related to the development of the East End Lagoon as a financially viable and regionally competitive nature tourism destination and the protection of the natural assets contained within the reserve. EELAC’s meetings, recommendations and reports are open to the public, with all written recommendation and findings sent to the GPBT chairman for consideration by the GPBT.
