FeatherFest

12th Annual World Wild Game Championship and BBQ Cook-off

22nd Annual AIA Sandcastle Competition

Description: The Galveston Island Juneteenth Coalition coordinates a week long celebration to highlight the history of Juneteenth and Galveston Island. Activities include a Jubilee parade, a picnic, prayer services, musicals, banquets and educational exhibits and demonstrations.


Great Texas Catamaran Race

Description: This is one of the premier long distance, beach catamaran races in the US. This 300 mile long beach catamaran race is sailed in four separate legs, starts in South Padre Island, Texas on Wednesday, June 11th and ends on Galveston Island on June 14th.



July 4th Parade

Parade Route: Stages at 25th and Santa Fe Place; Santa Fe Place to the Strand at 21st; 21st to Postoffice; then Postoffice to 24th; 24th to Sealy.

Following the parade there will be a 4th of July celebration at Sealy Pavilion (24th and Sealy) with patriotic entertainment, free hot dogs and lemonade, and free American flags for the children

Texas Race Week in Galveston

Description: More than 50 sail boats will race on the waters of the Gulf of Mexico during Texas Race Week. This event will happen in Galveston for a second consecutive year, after a very successful return to Galveston in 2007. There will be one race each day, and the recommended places to watch the races are East Beach, Stewart Beach, or a few miles down the Seawall.

33rd Annual Dickens on the Strand
