Appointed to the Board in 2023
Current Term Expires in 2025

Robert “Bob” was appointed to the Board in July 2023 and currently serves on the Beach Maintenance Advisory Committee (BMAC) and the Finance and Operations Committee (FOC). Bob and his wife, Helen, have been full-time islanders by choice since 2017 but have been living like locals for decades and routinely visited Galveston with their two sons, daughter and grandkids. Bob and Helen both actively contribute to the island’s diverse offerings. Bob supports the Pirates Property Owners Association where Helen has been a board member for the last three years. They both served as diligent docents during The Bryan Museum’s critical initial years, and Helen remains an active docent. Bob is also a member of Galveston’s grandest and oldest Mardi Gras Crewe, the Knights of Momus.

Bob has an extensive educational background. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Earth Science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a Master of Science in Geoscience from Georgia Institute of Technology, where his studies included coastal environments. He also holds a Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law and is a patent attorney.

Bob started a 43-year career with Schlumberger in 1978 as a field engineer, loading his crew out of Galveston's Pelican Island to run electrical and nuclear surveys in the Gulf of Mexico’s oil and gas wells. For many years, he worked in operations management as well as sales and marketing. He became an attorney in 2003, remaining with Schlumberger for another 17 years as Assistant General Counsel in charge of US Contract Management and legal counsel for complex global, risk-based projects.
