Barry Willey's path in life has been defined by his dedication to the law and his unwavering commitment to family. Barry served in the Galveston County Legal Department for 26 years and is a former Assistant City Attorney for the City of Galveston, a role he served with distinction from November 2020 to January 2023. His legal acumen and dedication to public service are evident in his continued contributions to the city.

 Barry holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Ocean Engineering from Texas A&M University as well as a Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law. Before becoming an attorney, Barry worked for many years with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in a variety of capacities including civil works planning and regulatory matters.

Barry and his wife Sheri have lived in Galveston since 1987 where they raised their two children, Hannah and Bryce. Sheri's continued role with the Army Corps of Engineers in Galveston reflects their mutual dedication to service and community betterment. For the last three decades, Barry has worked as an attorney for Galveston’s local government entities in a variety of areas.

Beyond the legal world, family commitments, and volunteering his time with the Park Board, Barry finds rejuvenation in his favorite pastimes. He has a deep appreciation for the outdoors and enjoys biking and sailing.
