Juneteenth Grant Program

Galveston Island invites visitors and residents alike to commemorate Juneteenth and learn about its history. 

As the birthplace of Juneteenth, Galveston offers invaluable education and initiatives to promote and support the observation of this holiday.


The Juneteenth Grant Program is intended to enhance and promote Juneteenth 2024 initiatives in Galveston through the use of Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT).  

Juneteenth Grants support initiatives that promote:

  1. Tourism and support the convention and hotel industry, and
  2. Advertising and promotional programs to attract more tourists. 

Program Eligibility: Persons, private organizations, non-profit organizations, and governmental entities are eligible to apply.

The maximum award amount is $20,000.        

Please note that first-time applicants must attend one support training course before applying. The Juneteenth Support Training Flyer with additional details is provided under the important documents section.

    In order to apply for the Juneteenth Grant Program, the contents of this application and attachments must be completed with information that is accurate and true to the best of the applicant’s knowledge.

    Please return paper applications to the Grants Manager via email at hmelton@galvestonparkboard.org. Electronic applications will be submitted automatically. Only one method of submission is necessary. See accompanying guidance for further instructions.

  2. Please describe the proposed activities, including the number of expected participants, activities planned, schedules, and other relevant information. Attach additional documents as needed. 

  3. Briefly describe the applicant's record of successfully implementing the proposed activities. Attach additional documents as needed. 

  4. How will the funds requested be used?
